Fred Tate

Fred Tate is the founder of CFO Shield, a Fractional CFO firm that helps small business owners increase revenues, control costs, and increase profitability.  After spending 18 years working in corporate America, Fred noticed a significant opportunity to start CFO Shield, an enterprise which is focused on an underserved segment of the market.  CFO Shield takes a consultative approach with clients to create solutions tailored to their specific needs.

Fred’s career includes diverse experiences that helped him see how small business is a key driver of economic growth, but often misses out on services that are only traditionally available to larger companies.  Fred has worked in global operations, giving him a detailed understanding of outsourcing operations. He has direct credit experience from which he learned how small business can strategically use debt to grow their business. Fred has led teams responsible for delivering the best possible customer service.  He has also been accountable for financial reporting and analysis, giving him a keen understanding of key financial drivers that can optimize business performance.

Fred is also an active supporter of his community, giving his time to support several service organizations and his favorite charity, Patriot PAWS Service Dogs of Rockwall, Texas.

In 2017, he was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve as a member on the Judicial Compensation Commission (JCC).  The mission of the JCC is to recommend the salaries for all justices and judges of the Supreme Court, the Court of Criminal Appeals, the courts of appeals, and the district courts.  After 2 years Governor Greg Abbott called on Fred in 2019 to further serve Texas a Commissioner for the State Commission for Judicial Conduct (SCJC).  The independent Texas state agency responsible for investigating allegations of judicial misconduct and judicial disability.

Fred earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University with a double major in Finance and Economics.  He is keenly focused on enabling companies that are growth oriented, assisting business owners to achieve their goals.
